Steve took an unusual path to his financial advising career, spending the first few months after college as your local TV meteorologist in upstate NY, followed by a nearly 20-year career as a National Program Manager and IT Director in the federal government. In late 2021, having a mid-life career change crisis, Steve joined New York Life as a Financial Services Professional and then joined Five Peaks Capital Group in 2024. While on paper the dramatic transition of industries sounds unusual, Steve oversaw the development of an enterprise-wide financial management IT system during his time with the government and furthermore, Steve has been developing financial solutions as a hobby for his family, in-laws, and close friends for many years before the official career change.
Steve started his New York Life career in Colorado, but he and his family have since relocated to Palm City, FL where Steve will be expanding Five Peaks' presence to the Sunshine State. Steve works predominantly with affluent families, mid-career professionals also going through similar mid-life career changes, and business owners. Using the skills he learned from his meteorology days, where you take a heavily scientific field and then explain it more simplistically when providing a forecast to the public, Steve takes a similar approach when breaking down a financial plan with his clients, helping clients see what their financial future will look like with the plan that has been proposed. Furthermore, Steve's wife, Lisette, is a CPA who runs her own tax practice, as such Steve utilizes her expansive knowledge of taxes to help guide tax efficient proposals to clients.
In 2022, Steve was awarded "Rookie of the Year" by the Colorado General Office of New York Life, given to the first-year agent who has the highest production of all first-year agents. In 2023, Steve was awarded the "New Organization Agent of the Year", given to the agent who has the highest production of all "new org" agents (agents in the first three years of the career). Steve also qualified for Executive Council* in 2022 after only six months in the career and qualified for President's Council* in his first full year in 2023. From an industry perspective, Steve has also earned recognition as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table** (MDRT).
Steve earned a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology and another in Economics from the Pennsylvania State University. Steve later earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Steve and his wife, Lisette, have two boys, Dominick and Giancarlo. Away from the office, Steve coaches Dominick's baseball team and Giancarlo's soccer team. Additionally, the family enjoys traveling, visiting major league and minor league baseball stadiums, and taking in new experiences on land, in the air, and on the sea.
*Council is an annual company recognition program based on agent production from July 1- June 30.
**The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), The Premier Association of Financial Professionals, is recognized globally as the standard of excellence for life insurance sales performance in the insurance and financial services industry.
